Flip a card over to its front and look near the bottom corner, next to the set number. A tiny symbol tells you how hard the card is to find in a pack.
The three classic symbols
- Circle: Common. The cards you pull most often.
- Diamond: Uncommon. Less often than commons.
- Star: Rare. The ones you hope for. Rare cards come in many flavours, and the card itself may say more, such as "Holo Rare".
Many modern cards also have special treatments, such as shiny foil, full-art pictures or extra-rare names. The names and symbols used for them change from one era of cards to another, so older and special cards may look different.
Rarity is not the same as value
A rare card can be worth little, and a common card from a popular set can be worth a lot. Value also depends on condition, language, how many people want the card and how many copies exist. Read more in "How prices work here".
How DeckMaster shows rarity
DeckMaster uses its own simple icons so they are easy to read on any screen, and it always pairs a shape with a word, never a colour alone:
| Shape | Word |
|---|---|
| Circle | Common |
| Diamond | Uncommon |
| Star | Rare |
| Sparkle | Ultra rare |
| Crown | Secret rare |
A card with a foil or holo finish also shows a "Foil" label. The label describes the card. It does not mean the card is worth more.
Quick tips
- Check the symbol and the name on the card together.
- When in doubt, search the card by set code and number in DeckMaster.
- Do not judge a card only by how shiny it is.
